The fire department also provides or assists in a variety of additional services. Some duties expand beyond the ordinary scope of a traditional fire department.
§ Water Rescue: In cooperation with county, state, and federal agencies, the department covers over 16 miles of shoreline on the Bay of Green Bay and over 8 miles of the Oconto River.
§ Ice Rescue: The department is also trained and equipped to perform ice rescue on area waters.
§ Extrication: The fire department also performs extrication of trapped victims of auto accidents in addition to EMS patient care duties.
§ Carbon Monoxide and Fuel Gas Order Checks: The department is equipped with instruments that detect carbon monoxide and natural gas and is able to provide an immediate response to residents in the fire protection district.
§ Ambulance Stand-By: EMS stand-by at high-risk events such as football and rugby games and ice car races.
§ Blood Pressure Checks: Stop in anytime to check your blood pressure.
§ City Garbage Bag Sales: Sold whenever the city hall is closed during the hours of 8:00AM – 10:00PM including weekends. Exact change is needed. Bags are sold pre-arranged accordingly:
§ Full Roll of 25 Large Bags = $25.00
§ Full Roll of 50 Small Bags = $25.00
§ 5 Large Bags = $ 5.00
§ 10 Small Bags = $ 5.00
§ DMV Forms: MV1 license applications, Special Licenses,
ATV, Boat, Snowmobile etc.
§ Car Seat Checks: Child safety seat installation and checks performed by Oconto County Health and Human Services contact them to schedule an appointment.
§ Police dispatch: dispatching services provide for the
police when out of the office.
§ Vehicle Maintenance: : Firefighters perform maintenance
and repairs on all police, fire, and ambulance vehicles.
